Hello, my name is Scott Linden and I am a

I passed the
California
Bar in 1997 and was sworn in for the
State of California and for the Southern
Federal District Court. In 1998 I
took and passed the New York State Bar,
but I missed California too much...so I
never swore in; I decided to
practice exclusively in California.
Since then, I have
been the general counsel for several large
corporations including a nationwide
plumbing contractor and supplier and a
dental supply company who, at the time,
was earning over $100,000,000 annually.
Near the end of 2003
I had heard the overwhelming complaints by
numerous small business clients about
"the bottom line". It was
all the same, rising insurance costs,
lawsuits by employees for
improper termination or sexual
harassment, increasing rent and
government imposed fines for
various safety and OSHA
violations.
You may wonder why
they came to their attorney with all types
of general business questions and you
would not be alone in the asking.
I am certain that after
learning about my past and reading
the current news, you will understand
why they came to me for help and why it is
only natural that the services provided by
RulesofEmployment.com
were and are necessary for every business.
Most
recently and with the advent of California
Proposition 215 and Senate Bill 420, there
has been a dramatic increase in the number
of Medical Marijuana Dispensaries in and
around the greater Los Angeles area.
As a legal California business entity, a
properly formed and designed MMD should
receive the complete benefits and
protections offered by the State of
California under the 10th Amendment of the
Constitution of the United States. I
have assisted several of these to become
compliant with the state, county and city
rules, regulations and zoning ordinances.

Professional
Experience
I
was the General Counsel for a
privately held national dental supply
company with gross sales in excess of one
hundred million dollars annually.
While
there I acted under a number of different
titles in an effort to
(1) revitalize the business
(2) lower overhead and raise the
bottom line
(3) create a positive work
environment with properly trained
employees
(4) protect them from potential
hazards and lawsuits
I
acted under the main titles of General
Counsel and the Director of Human
Resources.
I oversaw 18
branch offices and cared for over
400 employees and their families.
I reviewed all landlord
tenant issues for all locations. I
reviewed all contracts with all
suppliers and vendors. I
reconstructed the contract with the
outside financing company
and increased the bottom line by over
twelve million dollars by redesigning the
collection department..
I
undertook the task of revamping the
Worker's Compensation and drastically
reduced the experience modification;
saving the company 15%, over $75,000.00,
on renewal.
I
made an extensive review of the Medical
and Dental Plans and found where the
company was losing over $200,000.00
annually; paying for terminated employees
and employees on extended leave.
At
the same time as decreasing the company's
insurance costs I increased company morale
by implementing several production
incentive rewards programs and adding
domestic partner coverage to the existing
policies.
I
created the Hiring and Termination
Processes for the company. I created
the employment application, the employee's
handbook, the purchase orders, the credit
applications as well as all of the warranties
and disclaimers for the hi-tech equipment
and x-ray machines.

Prior
to my employment at the dental supply
company I was the General Counsel for a
national collection agency. I
created the collection procedures and
oversaw the day to day operations. I
assisted in collecting over eight million
dollars in outstanding debt, many of which
were well over 180 days old.
Clients included
multi-national corporations and nationwide
produce growers and distributors.
I then
joined the law firm Schofield
& Grossman (2003-2004) firm that
specialized in Trusts, Estates, Tax and
Probate. I became a partner
and the firm name changed to Schofield, Grossman
& Linden (2004-2009)
Now, at the end of
2009, I practice solo and as associate
counsel with a number of other attorneys.
Together we offer a complete company
creation, review and reorganization
services in addition to specializing in
Criminal Defense, Personal Injury,
Business and Civil Litigation, Business
and Corporate Formation, Trusts, Estates,
Tax and Probate.
I also assist the
gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender
population of the greater Los Angeles area
providing estate planning and Living Wills
(Durable Powers of Healthcare) to
life-partners who would not have the legal
rights to make decisions for their partner
without our documents. We are
members of the Lambda
Legal Referral Network and the
California Chapter of the National
Organization for the Reformation of
Marijuana Laws (CA NORML).
